A Night At The Montone (Umbria) Film Festival.
Last night was the opening night of the Umbria Film Festival in Montone, not far from where we live on the Tuscany Umbria border. We arrived early, our plan was to eat and then get seats in the main square, Piazza Fortebraccio. I thought we’d try a restaurant called Del Verziere but it was closed due to a change of management; instead we went to L’Antica Osteria in Piazza Fortebraccio. During our meal we heard the sound of trumpets and went down to see what was going on, the keys to Montone were being handed to a film director whose name escapes me!

After our meal, we were surprised to find that the chairs were still not set up for the film, on asking we learnt that this year the films were being shown at the Rocca at the top of the town. By the time we got there all the seats were gone, so much for our well laid plans! We were lucky enough to find room for sitting on the wall.

After a few minutes’ wait the films began, a series of short animations. All the films were well made and very enjoyable, I liked Meine Erste Hochzeit (My First Wedding), The Happy Duckling and Carrot On The Beach the best.

We left before the full length film started, there’s only so much you can make children sit through late at night! The Umbria Film Festival in Montone continues until Sunday.
